Over the weekend of 24th and 25th November 2018, filmmakers, speakers and artists from across Europe and the UK came to Sheffield to celebrate Transforming Cinema – Sheffield’s first film festival to focus on transgender and non-binary films and storytelling.
With overs 30 films, shorts, documentaries, workshops and Q&As, the weekend was a great success, with so many important conversations taking place and powerful stories being shared.
We were honoured to have Sarah O’Connell hosting the event for the whole weekend – a massive thanks to Sarah for joining us again and for being a fabulous host.
We’d like to thank our incredible speakers and guests for giving Transforming Cinema life with such a broad range of identities, experiences and input – Andro & Eve and King Sammy Silver, Jake Graf and Hannah Graf, Campbell X, Rebekah Fortune, Ynda Jas, Kristiene Clarke and Ash Palmisciano.
A big thanks to the venues that hosted us (and for the staff who helped us) – Sheffield Town Hall, Curzon Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University’s Void Cinema.
Special thanks to The National Lottery Community Fund (and all the National Lottery players) for funding Transforming Cinema.
Thanks to our volunteers for helping us out and our photographer and videographer for capturing the event.
We’d like to give our thanks and appreciation for our consultation group who provided much-valued input and helped shape this weekend and to our supporters who helped spread the word.
And lastly (but by no means least!) a massive thank you to all our attendees – this was for you, and we hope you enjoyed it, whether you came for one or two things, or stayed for the whole weekend! (Thanks for your scribbles on our boards and for your feedback!)
We were thrilled and so very proud to be able to bring Transforming Cinema to life here in Sheffield again.
